Here’s a little taster of what to expect from this year’s festival, filmed by local music photographer extraordinaire Jazzy Lemon.

The Cornshed Sisters - Wind and Rain
Considering the inclement weather that’s been pummelling these isles in the last few days, this song by our afternoon headliners The Cornshed Sisters seemed quite fitting, and quite beautiful too. Out of the Trees VII is in 5 days… Withered Hand - Real Snow
Our videos seemed to have worked like an incantation. There’s been a sprinkling of fresh snow in Warkworth over the weekend. Much as it can cause chaos (it nearly cancelled Out of the Trees V) we do like a bit of a real snow. Here’s another appropriate video from our evening session artist Withered Hand. Come see him, and many other fantastic acts, live on the day. Out of the Trees VII is in 6 days… Wreaths - O! Like Falling Snow
A beautiful little video from afternoon session artist Wreaths. Quiet and reflective, we’re hoping for cold and peaceful winter weather like this on the day, not the bawbag hurricane currently heading for Northumberland… We got a lovely mention from Drowned in Sound here: http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4144157-drowned-in-newcastle-9 In even more exciting news I will be rambling incoherently on Saturday the 17th of December to Lionheart Radio, I think at about 10am. Never heard of Lionheart Radio? You’ve clearly never spent much time in and around the area of Alnwick then! It’s a lovely little local radio station that dedicates a lot of time and energy to all things North Northumbrian, and they’ve offered me the chance to actually sit in a studio and talk to them about this festival - I’m wondering if they actually know what they’re letting themselves in for…
6TH DEC 2011
Yes, we’ve done the timings, so you can schedule your day - including the all important question ‘at what time should I sit down for a lovely pub meal in The Hermitage?’ (Rabbit pie! Rabbit pie! Rabbit pie! Actually I’ve never had the rabbit pie but I’ve been told it’s very good… and they do veggie food too, without even much of a grimace) Enough of my irrelevance. Beneath you will find the listings. If you are an organised type (the kind I yearn to be, but will always ultimately fail) you can print this out and bring it with you on the day. If you’re more like me (and perhaps spend your days organising other people on a grand scale and are therefore categorically incapable of leaving the house with both your purse AND your keys) then there will also be handouts with timings available on the day. Two illustrious gentlemen seem to think our festival is of note. Charmed! We can’t wait to see their jovial faces, and well-turned smoking pipes, on the day… http://www.theambler.co.uk/2011/11/30/whither-and-why/ Jolly good! Baskin’s Wish have now been added to this year’s line-up.
Low-fi in all the right ways we’re pleased as punch they’ll be adding some indie loveliness to our festival. Less than 2 weeks to go as of NOW… Nev Clay ‘Leaving Do’
A heartbreakingly beautiful song from this year’s afternoon session artist Nev Clay. Just in case anyone needs persuading, I’ll be sticking some video and audio up as I get the chance, to prove why you can’t afford to miss this year’s Out of the Trees… 29TH NOV 2011
Thanks to NE1 fm for plugging our mad little event! Just been listening to Matt have a good old babble, and many thanks to the dj for plugging the many unique aspects of our festival, including our 1960s vintage bus. Oooooh check it out… |
